Silvermount Audio deconstructed the entire architecture of the Torus Bass library to rewrite, assemble and release version 1.3. A big leap forward since the debut release, with the update including, among various internal improvements, 2 main additions: a polyphonic slider that emulates a 5-fret fretting hand range and latching/momentary mode for all articulations.
The polyphonic slider emulates the fretting hand moving across the fretboard with a logical 5-fret range at each position. Useful for big chords, arpeggios and common scales that are part of wide 3NPS shapes used on the guitar and bass. The existing string select function still applies and should be used for horizontal runs, but with the polyphonic slider and the visible playable range on the fretboard makes it way easier to move up and down the fretboard - especially when used with automation.
Latching mode comes in handy when trying out and selecting articulations. Users can avoid drawing the lengths of articulations in the trial stage of songwriting, skipping going back and forth to audition each articulation. A simple yet effective addition that streamlines the songwriting process, even more suitable when users don't use a physical keyboard.
Visual improvements include new fretboard indicators and visual aids that follow the polyphonic range slider. The visual effect makes it feel more intuitive, enhancing the overall experience writing music with Torus Bass.
Version 1.3 is a milestone for Silvermount Audio, an essential update, out of pure necessity, for ideas in the pipeline to become reality.
